The Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation, in collaboration with AngloGold Ashanti, has been instrumental in enhancing educational resources in Ghana through the distribution of NaCCA-approved textbooks. This partnership aims to bridge educational disparities, especially in underserved communities.

In July 2020, amidst the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Foundation and AngloGold Ashanti initiated a program to distribute 100,000 copies of readers and workbooks to Basic and Junior High School students in the Obuasi area. This effort was part of a broader strategy to ensure uninterrupted learning during school closures. The initiative also included the launch of a Live Radio and Distance Learning Programme in Obuasi, supported by a GH₵150,000 contribution from AngloGold Ashanti.

Objectives

• Enhance Learning Continuity: Provide students with essential learning materials to continue their education remotely.

• Support Curriculum Adherence: Ensure that distributed textbooks align with the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) standards.

• Promote Educational Equity: Address disparities by supplying resources to students in less privileged areas.

Impact and Reach

The collaboration has significantly impacted the Obuasi Municipal and Obuasi East Educational Directorates, ensuring that students in these areas have access to quality educational materials. By aligning with NaCCA standards, the initiative supports students in meeting national educational benchmarks.
