His Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, through the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation, has successfully completed and handed over a three-storey Girls’ Dormitory with a 600-bed capacity to his alma mater, Sefwi Wiawso Senior High School, in the Western North Region. The facility represents a major investment in girls’ education and student welfare, reinforcing His Majesty’s long-standing commitment to expanding access to quality education across Ghana.

Representing His Majesty at the handover ceremony, the Otumfuo Hiahene and Board Chairman of the Foundation, Nana Prof. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei Woahene II, officially presented the keys of the facility to the traditional authorities of the land, who subsequently handed it over to the school administration. The project was executed by Attachy Construction Limited, with Architectural and Engineering Services Limited (AESL) serving as the consulting firm.

Designed to provide a safe, comfortable, and supportive living environment for students, the dormitory is equipped with modern amenities to meet the academic and welfare needs of female students. The facility comprises 21 spacious student rooms, 28 washrooms, and 10 open washrooms, ensuring convenience and hygiene. It also includes a fully furnished Housemistress’ flat with two bedrooms, a living hall, dining area, kitchen, washrooms, and veranda, providing on-site supervision and support.

In addition, the dormitory features a well-equipped infirmary with an outpatient department, two wards, and washroom facilities to attend to students’ healthcare needs. Other amenities include an ironing area, a spacious compound for relaxation, clean and well-maintained common areas.

Although the official commissioning is pending, the facility has been formally handed over to the school and is already in active use by students, significantly easing accommodation challenges and improving living conditions on campus.

This landmark project underscores His Majesty’s enduring vision to promote inclusive education, particularly for girls, by providing infrastructure that supports academic excellence, safety, and well-being. Through the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation, the Asantehene continues to invest in the future of Ghana by creating enabling environments where young people can learn, grow, and thrive.
