Commissioning of Mechanised Boreholes in Mampong Akrofoso and Effiduase with Harambee International Development
The Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation, in partnership with Harambee International Development, has improved access to clean and safe water in two underserved communities in the Ashanti Region through the commissioning of mechanised boreholes serving schools and surrounding communities.
The Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation, in collaboration with Harambee International Development of Virginia, USA, has brought renewed hope and relief to two communities in the Ashanti Region through the successful commissioning of mechanized boreholes aimed at improving access to clean and safe water.
The projects, located at Mampong Akrofoso in the Sekyere Kumawu District and Effiduase, the district capital of Sekyere East, are set to significantly transform water access for thousands of residents. The direct beneficiaries include Akrofoso Presby Primary School, Akrofoso D/A JHS, and the Effiduase D/A Cluster of Schools, which comprises three primary schools and two Junior High Schools. Beyond the school environment, the surrounding communities will also benefit from this life-changing intervention, easing the daily burden of accessing potable water.
During the commissioning ceremonies, traditional leaders (Nananom), school authorities, and officers from the District Education Directorates expressed deep appreciation to the Otumfuo Foundation and Harambee International Development for the timely delivery of the project. Stakeholders also emphasized the importance of cultivating a strong maintenance culture to ensure the sustainability and long-term functionality of the boreholes for future generations.
Through this intervention, the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation continues to demonstrate its commitment to improving educational environments and enhancing community well-being by addressing essential needs such as access to clean water, which is an important foundation for health, learning, and sustainable development.
